Is Christmas Day!

went church to watch baptism ceremony on Christmas morning...

and after the ceremony,

great lunch at T.G.I.Fridays, Jotic, JB!^^

It is named after almost everyone’s favourite day "TGIF", short for "Thank God It's Friday" or "Thank Goodness It's Friday",

Is an American pub chain's sole outlet, conveniently located in the same building as the tourist office and right opposite the Abu Bakar Museum at JB. Serves up beer, nachos and similar pub grub in cheezy, air-con surroundings. The ambience is perfect. Dim lights...and really love the antique wall decorations there!

Simple. As my family and I thought of having turkey meal there

but later found out that Christmas turkey meal was only available yesterday, Christmas Eve...*sighs*

3 course meal which included 1 appetizer, 1 entree and 1 dessert from a predetermined list for RM39.90...worth it! For the course meal, is not normal amount of food they served for one person, for me definitely not able to finish up the set alone..lolx.Lucky we are smart enough to order only two sets of course meal and pasta for everyone.

Mac 'N' Cheese Bites & Shrimp Martini

yummy! *salivates*

My favourite dessert there...

Presenting....Cookies 'N' Cream!!!

I fell in love with the dessert

rich vanilla ice cream sandwiched between two decadent chocolate chip cookie squares laced with hot fudge and caramel sauce...simply irresistible!!! =p

saw the mini delights from menu...waw, cute! O.O

but very full already after finish up the food ordered. looking forward to eat it on my next meal there~^.^v

Also found that other food from the menu are little heavy on the pocket, but all looks really hard to resist! Argh >.<

Anyway TGIF is definitely the place to be if you want to celebrate the beginning of a great weekend, and also an idea choice to celabrate any occasions ~.^

Took a photo of my Christmas tree after back from church watching performances. hehe =) This year...simple ornaments from IKEA.

Merry Christmas =)

Gemuk Girls

Went to KL Performing Arts Centre yesterday by MMU bus, it was actually theater acting class trip, and we need to write review for a play from Singapore's The Necessary Stage

-Gemuk Girls.

Do they look fat?

Ermm, I'm not teasing anyone ok =D lolx, this is the title of the play. When this title first mentioned by lecturer, many of us thought that this play is about teasing fat people, actually it doesn't. Thought is a comedy as well and is kinda weird to have a play using FAT as the theme.

But after watching the play, Gemuk Girls is found to be a half comedy, half darkly intriguing play.

Short summary of the play:

The provocative new piece from the award-winning director-playwright pairing of Alvin Tan and Haresh Sharma follows the seemingly normal lives of a mother, Kartini, and her daughter Juliana who, together make a very unlikely mother-daughter pair – one loud and overbearing, the other straight-laced and on the threshold of entering politics. They are Gemuk Girls and proud of it. However, their whole world turns topsy-turvy after hearing shocking news about Kartini’s father.

One day, they receive shocking news about Kartini’s father who had been arrested and detained during the 1960s. Suddenly the floodgates of the family’s emotional past are thrown open. The play followed by creating more questions than answers, causing us to probe into our own lives and create a connection between ourselves and the characters.

Gemuk Girls is a bold and often darkly humorous look at family politics and the politics of the day. Gemuk Girls seeks to challenge audiences to re-examine the status quo and their preconceptions, and in doing so, presents possibilities for new interpretations and understanding.

Erm...for the thought of teasing fat people from the theme, well, it was later found out that the title is actually meant to give 'weight' to the show as the mother and daughter who really in BIG body size but with huge confidence, speak and face challenges with full of confidences. They are funny and humourous too in the I-don't-care-what-the-world-thinks kind of attitude.

The most important thing is the actor and actresses play their roles well, the switch of emotions in just few seconds, the crying scene, hmmm....acting is really not easy. And it is quite surprised to see that there is a good mixture of Malay, English and Mandarin conversations in between, but the actor and actresses are Malays actually.

To Siti who plays the daughter, I thought she is a Chinese at the beginning! fairest among them, but later found out she is not, she was the one who spoke lines in Mandarin at the middle of the play, and lastly found out more about her at the talk-back session that she surprisingly lost 15kg for the role! How she did that?!?!? Haha...and she said she still gemuk but is more gemuk previously..lolx

Apart from humour, there is actually a dark side, hidden main theme of the whole play, showing how the family cope with heavy past, how the outcomes can turn out to be, by choosing different paths they desire, so this makes this play rather interesting as we are quite certain to be in one of the path chosen.

In talk-back session, the audience is quite surprised that this play is not censored in rather controlled Singapore. In fact, Director Alvin Tan and Playwright Haresh Sharma are pleasantly surprised that there are no censors as well. For this theatre company used to be on the close watch list of the authorities which was fromed in the 1980s and now after more than 20 years, this company is having much more freedom and recognised by the Singapore's National Arts Council.

White Xmas

Well I'm talking about Christmas again! It's Christmas month! hhaha....haven't started my christmas shopping, gifts hunting for cousins, for gift exchange games and at the same time thinking what xmas gift I will receive from my parent this year =p

Christmas songs is everywhere, from the malls to shops, I love christmas carols~~~but I dislike some CD stores in malls playing chinese new year songs in Christmas month, hardly describe the feelings, is like while everywhere you turn in malls you'll run into tons of Christmas decorations, you heard the joyous cny songs...doesn't mean I prefer Christmas to cny...I love both celebrations, erm but.... just prefer Christmas songs to cny songs...haHHAa =D

Recently have been listening to a "christmas" song quite frequent, kat-tun's new song - white xmas, in their latest album that will be released on december 3 tomorrow, introduced by my roommie, a Japanese music and video lover, lolx.

white xmas <--- watch this nice music video =) sad but touchy~~~

Shoe box wrapping

Heeehee! Finally we got a bigger shoe box and wrapped it!! ^.^v

thought of writing this post yesterday but, I was too tired and lying on my lovely pinky bed. Exhausted....lolx >.<

My back hurts, after sitting on the floor doing the shoe box wrapping for an hour, and tiredness that carried from the morning. Erm, went church practised songs for worship on the next day, I have no idea why I had a feeling of using up all my energy tapping the keys, I didn't take my breakfast? not enough sleep? flu? or due to other reasons? as I have to play quite loud sometimes with the drum accompaniment. Haha, following by a little dizziness in my head after I left the piano bench.
*yet I enjoy playing the grandpiano very much ^-^
nice melody<---found this video, one of the melodies I like~~~

Hm, back to the shoe box wrapping, I wrapped it....as roommie thinks she unable to wrap it nicely, hahaa...what she did then? ?

"ermmmm...Hui Juan, lend me your sellotape..." =D

"oya, the thick beige tape on your left and double sided tape too."

"and I need printed words 'merry christmas' ."
Lolx, she provided me with all types of tapes which I do not have, and stationery for the box wrapping...hehe, thx! ~.^

Christmas is less than one month away =D

Christmas Shoe Box

Heard about shoe-box giving from my roommie, asking me whether I want to involve in this chistmas gift giving activity with her, and the selection of the gifts will base on few categories of items. Quite excited when she told me about this .Hehe, christmas is just a month away! ^.^v

Basically we have to pack a shoe box , and fill the box with a variety of gifts, one or more items from each "something" listed according to its category that will bring delight to a child. The categories are something to love, something for school, something to play with, something to wear, something for personal hygiene, and lastly something special.

Those gifts will be sent to orang asli or orphanage and the target group will be 5 to 10 years old children. So we have to get something suitable for the gender and age range of the child, so my roommie and me set it as around 5-6 years old range for a little girl as I think I'm not good in picking gifts for a little boy..haaaha. Then we divided the categories of items we going to get. So last week I have already gone shopping to hunt for those items, and my mum bought few shirts and socks as well to involve in this activity =)

* me and roommie already bought all the items but we haven put them in any shoe box or wrap it, we need a bigger shoe box... >.<
Having mild fever + flu + sore throat, aiks, hope can recover soon~ Dislike the feeling of nose blocked and hardly breathe comfortably when sleeping...ahhhhchhiiieeewWW!!!!! lolx >.<
